Welcome to Florham Park!

Florham Park is a sought-after suburban borough in Morris County, known for its beautiful residential neighborhoods, highly rated schools, and welcoming community atmosphere. Ideally located near major highways and less than an hour from New York City, Florham Park offers a convenient commute while preserving the charm and ease of small-town living.

The borough’s name traces back to the historic “Florham” estate, a grand Gilded Age mansion built for Florence Vanderbilt Twombly and her husband, Hamilton McKown Twombly. The name “Florham” was created by combining Florence and Hamilton, and over time, the surrounding area came to be known as Florham Park.

Today, Florham Park blends history, convenience, and an exceptional quality of life. Residents enjoy scenic parks, local dining, strong public schools, and proximity to major corporate campuses, including the New York Jets’ headquarters and training facility. With its well-maintained neighborhoods, family-friendly lifestyle, and prime Morris County location, Florham Park remains one of Northern New Jersey’s most desirable places to call home.

Let’s take a step back in time…

The area now known as Florham Park was originally inhabited by the Lenape Native Americans, who traveled and lived throughout the region long before European settlement. The land later became part of early colonial New Jersey when Dutch and English settlers moved inland in the 1600s and 1700s, using established Native American trails to explore and settle the area.

By the 18th century, much of Florham Park was part of large estates and farmland tied to nearby Morristown families, and it remained largely rural for centuries, with agriculture and small mills shaping early life in the region.

In the late 1800s, the borough’s identity began to take shape when it became part of the “Florham” estate, a grand country property built by Hamilton Twombly and Florence Vanderbilt, whose names inspired the town’s eventual name. Florham Park was officially incorporated in 1899, and over time, it evolved from estate land into the quiet, residential suburban community it is today.
